Prepare for a consistent scan
Hydration, food, recent exercise and time of day can influence bioelectrical impedance measurements. Consistent conditions make comparisons more meaningful.
Safety note: Do not test if you have an implanted electronic medical device such as a pacemaker. If pregnant or if you have a health concern, ask your healthcare professional whether testing is appropriate.
✓Use the restroom before testing.
✓Avoid eating for 2–4 hours beforehand.
✓Avoid strenuous exercise before testing.
✓Avoid sauna, steam room or bath immediately beforehand.
✓Stay normally hydrated; do not over-hydrate.
✓Remove shoes and socks; avoid lotion on hands and feet.
