Body composition at Bulldog Gym

Know your body.
Train with purpose.

The InBody 580 goes beyond body weight to show how muscle, fat, water balance and cellular health are changing—giving you objective information for smarter goals and better follow-through.

More than a scale

A clearer picture of your progress

A scan organizes detailed body-composition information into a practical report. Repeat testing under consistent conditions helps you see whether your training, nutrition and recovery plan is moving the right measures.

01

Muscle & fat

Review skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, percent body fat and BMI together—not as isolated numbers.

02

Segmental balance

See estimated lean mass by arm, leg and trunk to identify balance and follow regional changes over time.

03

Body water

Explore intracellular and extracellular water plus segmental ECW/TBW indicators for a deeper view of fluid balance.

04

Phase angle

Whole-body and segmental phase angle add context about cellular integrity and can be trended across repeat scans.

05

Visceral fat & metabolism

Review visceral fat area and basal metabolic rate estimates as useful inputs for goal setting and coaching.

06

Grip strength

Our InGrip dynamometer measures hand-grip strength so functional strength can be considered alongside muscle measures.

Why the 580 upgrade matters

Deeper insight, easier follow-up

The InBody 580 expands on our previous system with advanced segmental outputs and a customizable history graph. Results can also connect to the InBody app, helping you keep your data close and review changes between visits.

Fast, non-invasive bioelectrical impedance analysis
Detailed printed and digital result information
Repeatable tracking when test conditions stay consistent
A results review to turn data into next steps

New advanced measures

These outputs help add context beyond pounds lost or gained.

Segmental phase angle

Compare phase angle across five body segments and follow trends over time.

Segmental ICW

View intracellular water by body segment as part of a more detailed hydration picture.

Segmental ECW ratio

Review extracellular water relative to total body water in each limb and the trunk.

Strength + muscle context

Pair digital grip-strength testing with skeletal muscle measures for a broader functional view.

Your appointment

Simple from scan to strategy

1

Prepare

Follow the preparation checklist and arrive in clothing that allows bare-foot contact with the device.

2

Test

Stand on the foot electrodes and hold the hand electrodes while the device completes its guided scan.

3

Understand

Review your report with us, establish useful baselines and decide what to track at your next scan.

Prepare for a consistent scan

Consistency matters most when comparing results. Whenever possible, recreate the same conditions for each visit.

Safety note: Do not test if you have an implanted electronic medical device such as a pacemaker. If pregnant or if you have a health concern, ask your healthcare professional whether testing is appropriate.
  • Use the restroom before testing.
  • Avoid eating for at least 2–4 hours beforehand.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise before the test.
  • Avoid sauna, steam room or bath immediately beforehand.
  • Avoid alcohol and other factors that significantly affect hydration.
  • Stay normally hydrated; do not over-hydrate just before testing.
  • Remove shoes and socks; avoid lotion on hands and feet.
  • For comparison scans, test at a similar time of day.
Questions

InBody 580 FAQ

Is this a medical diagnosis?

No. InBody results are screening and tracking information, not a diagnosis. Discuss medical concerns or unexpected results with a qualified healthcare professional.

How often should I scan?

That depends on your goal and program. Many people use a baseline and follow-up scan after a defined training or nutrition block; monthly tracking is also available for members.

Why do test conditions matter?

Hydration, food, exercise and time of day can affect bioelectrical impedance readings. Similar conditions make trend comparisons more meaningful.

What is phase angle?

Phase angle is derived from the relationship between resistance and reactance measured by BIA. It provides additional context related to cellular integrity and should be interpreted as a trend alongside other measures—not as a stand-alone diagnosis.

Does the 580 itself measure grip strength?

Grip strength is measured with the compatible InGrip digital handgrip dynamometer. We use that reading alongside InBody muscle measures to add functional context.
