Monday Motivation 02-06-23 “Choose Your Hard”

When it comes to fitness, many of us have a tendency to push ourselves to the brink of exhaustion in pursuit of our goals. However, Bulldog Gym personal trainer, Jamel Gude, is here to remind us that we have a choice when it comes to the level of “pain” we endure on our fitness journey.

“You have to choose your hard,” says Gude. “Many people believe that fitness is all about pushing through pain and discomfort, but that’s not always the case. You have a choice.”

On one hand, Gude explains, we have the option to show up and put in the work to take care of ourselves. This means committing to regular exercise, eating a healthy and balanced diet, and making self-care a priority. While it may not always be easy, the long-term benefits are undeniable. “Regular exercise can improve cardiovascular health, increase muscle strength and flexibility, and boost your mood,” Gude says. “Eating a healthy diet can help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases, and provide your body with the nutrients it needs to function properly.”

On the other hand, we have the option to neglect our health and choose health issues. This means neglecting regular exercise, eating an unhealthy diet, and ignoring self-care. The outcome is often poor health and chronic diseases. The choice is ours.

But Gude reminds us that making healthy choices doesn’t have to be a punishment. “It can be enjoyable and rewarding,” he says. “Find an exercise routine that you love, discover healthy recipes that you enjoy, and make self-care a regular part of your routine.” By choosing to prioritize our health, we’re choosing a happier and healthier life in the long run.

“In conclusion, when it comes to fitness, you have a choice,” Gude says. “You can either choose to show up and work out, take care of yourself, and reap the benefits or you can choose to neglect your health and suffer the consequences. The choice is yours. Choose wisely.”

As a trainer at Bulldog Gym, Gude is dedicated to helping his clients make the right choice and reach their fitness goals. So, next time you’re tempted to push yourself too hard in the gym, remember that you have a choice when it comes to the level of “pain” you endure on your fitness journey. Choose wisely.
